Ranking and Rating of Trail Runners

Pimco Sporting Events of Pimco Group is committed to the development of the sports of Trail Running in the Philippines to help in the economic development of upland communities living in the Sierra Madre mountain ranges in Tanay, Rizal through what Pimco termed as Sports Tourism.

As young sports in the Philippines, we don’t have yet a way of classifying runners and that competition is open to all whether runners are beginners or elite ones which means fast and veteran runners are bunched together with slower and new runners. Pimco helps organized Philippines Trail Runners Association or PTRA as an organization of trail runners to institutionalize trail running through award giving of trail runners and by ranking and rating the runners. Trail running is not an easy sports and it’s actually the most difficult in the sports of running and marathon. Yet it is entertaining, fun, and exciting because trails are never constant unlike in road running. There are many variations and natural obstacles. In trail running, the runner is a racer, mountaineer, and explorer on a journey in the mountain, forests, hills, rivers and falls discovering best kept secrets of nature.

Ranking and Rating will give the runners their own assessment of their strengths and weaknesses; level of personal development as runner; purposes and objectives in running; and finally their level of satisfaction in their achievements. A runner who has achieve so much like becoming an Elite or International Elite may offer his own experiences in trail running as Trail Running Coach to beginners and to those wanting to achieve higher ranking and rating as trail runner. Having the trail runners ranked and rated will give them recognition of achievements. For example a runner who started with more than 6 hours record time of finish to complete a 21k and rated as Beginner would start moving and achieve the Advance Rating by moving up to top 100 or top 50 would have his achievement recorded and recognized by an institution not by himself alone and that gives him/her honor.

In all serious sports – golf, tennis, boxing, etc., athletes are ranked and rated as a way of giving recognition and as a way of giving the athlete direction and objectives, a purpose of doing what he/she enjoys the most. Trail Running is an entertaining sports but it is serious one for those that want to be recognized. The two faces of Trail Running, one of a serious athlete and one of health and fitness buff. Both will be thrilled and enjoy trail running and both will be ranked and rated for their achievement because just to participate in Trail Running races is an achievement in itself.

Only 33 days to go for the 2nd Leg of the NTDR IV 2016. Wow! Time goes quickly. Days are passing by and we could only look back at how it was while we move forward to the next challenges. I recall the song of Hallmark Card when there was no texting yet, "Good morning yesterday. You wake up and time has passed you by. And suddenly you realized the memories you left behind, remember? will you remember? the times of your life" -

It took us a year before we come back for more NTDR races and then 1st Leg was finally finished last January 27, 2016 and now we get nearer to the 2nd Leg scheduled on February 28. We brought you to places in the mountain where time stood by. You discovered sites and places and left your footprint and pictures of you at the trails. You proved yourself, "Kaya ko pala ang trail!"
