What is the Amazing Run2Run Adventure or Run2Run for short?

Run2Run is the first trail running race event where participants run at their own day and time schedule at designated trail routes and distances. Runners are given the target which they will have to achieve within every stage of the race. There are 6 stages and there are at least 7 Major Trail Routes with pre-determined distances that runners should run. They may choose to pay per stage which they think they will be able to achieve and upgrade to another level until they are able to complete the required distance or they may pay half or the full 6 stages. Every stage has a month to complete and runners may run on any day of the month. Runners must complete the required minimum distance in every stage to be within the target distance of a chosen race category. It’s up to the runners what distance he/she will cover in every run whether shor or long.

WHO SHOULD PARTICIPATE?

1.  Runners who are crossing over from road to trail for the fist time but are hesitant to join trail running races such as the premier trail running race event in the country today the NTDR III Trilogy Championship because of the presence of elite runners. Here's the recommended starter which doubles up as training for the newbies. The best training for trail running is to run the trail in a race so there will be that competitive spirit. A beginner may start in the Silver category and upgrade or move higher once they feel confident they can do the longer distances in trail.

2. Beginning runners who wish to start running for healthy benefits of the sport. The fresh air of the trail and elevation help runners to develop stronger muscles and healthy lungs. The mountain has clean fresh air unlike in road where the smoke coming from cars and factories mixed with the air you breath.

3. Trail runners who wish to develop competitiveness in the sport, improve personal record, be able to run longer distances that make trail running more fun and enjoyable instead of being stuck in short distances.

4. Those who are participating in the new season of NTDR III Trilogy Championship 2014-15 who wish to be able to improve ranking in the most premier race event of Pimco. The trail routes that will be covered in Run2Run are the same routes that NTDR III will run thus giving the familiarity advantage to runners. Having familiarity with the trail routes not only will make trail runners have more confidence they would also avoid getting lost during the race.

5. For ages 18 years old up to 50+ year with no known disease such heart ailments, hypertension, stroke, diabetes, etc.

What are the requirements to participate in the Run2Run?

1. Participant must register and must choose either monthly term, 3-stages, 6-stages. Payment will include the materials such as the map and Trail routes per stage, Record Booklet of the runner containing the trail routes, distances, and time and details of the runner.

2. Participant must have the minimum required trail running accessory, gears, and apparel the most important hydration accessory. Headlamp is not necessary yet since the start of run will only be allowed in the early sunrise between 5-6 am. Some gears and equopment will be available in Pimco Sporting Events store at the Clubhouse.

3. Runner should have been at least running in the road or in the trail for some time at least minimum of 5k to 10k for the Silver Cup, 10k to 21k for the Gold Cup and 32k-50k for the Platinum Cup.

MISCELLANEOUS PROVISIONS

1. Pimco has the standard measurement of the distance of every trail the Runner register for the run however it is recommended that runner must bring his sports watch if any and must set it up in the presence of the Officer in the Clubhouse. The clubhouse has own recording of time start and finish and this will be compared with the runners sports watch. In terms of the distance the Official Trail Route has already been measured from the clubhouse to the designated U-Turn slot or from end to end of the loop which will still starts and finish at the clubhouse. In case of big difference the record time of the Clubhouse will be followed.Runner must only run the full distance of every official trail route in every run. However if there is still time allowed to run, runner may choose to run twice the full distance and this will be counted in his/her record.

2. There are 7 official Trail Routes and more will be added each with different degree of difficulties and with variances different than others. Some routes maybe run alone with a guide and some routes may have to be run with group especially the longer distances. There is no pressure for runner to finish every run, he/she must run only what she can finish and within the bounds of his/her physical limit, the pressure is meeting the target distance within the allowable time period of 6 months in this reality race. Whatever distance the runner finish whether its full distance of the official trail route or a fraction of the distance, it will be counted and recorded.

3. Pimco Sporting Events will post the ranking of runners after every stage so participants can monitor his/her progress from Stage 1 to Stage 6 of the race and adjust pacing if there is need to gain speed and distance. This official posting of the ranking of runners in every Category and Division will be made a week after the last day of the month covering the previous stage.Once the runner completed the required distance of the category he/she registered into, he’s done and his record will be officially stamped finished. His/her record will be computed, the total time and distance. The cumulative time matters most since the fastest cumulative time to finish the Distance Category entered into will be the Champion of that distance category. The ranking will be based from the fastest down to slower finished time.

4. The Official Trail Routes Familiarity of the trail routes allow runners to adapt to the surroundings.  Trail running is run on the mountains, over hills and valleys, rivers and streams, forest. No amount of lecture and tips on trail running will make you a better trail runner:

Sto. Nino-Mamuyao River Trail

Distance for this trail is about 10k-21k maximum distance this is generally easy trail with off road in San Andres going to the Sto. Nino River crossing, a footbridge,  and wide rocky river surrounded by hills and mountains. It covers 3 Barangays San Andres, Sto. Nino, and Mamuyao. This is a fairly easy trail with moderate elevation of about 400 meters and moderate difficulty going back to the Clubhouse. It’s highly recommended for newbies in trail running. In dry month as April, the river is generally low and generally safe to pass but in rainy days, the current become strong and the way in and out of Sto. Nino by foot is the foot bridge. The off-road will be quite dusty during dry month and a bit muddy during rainy days. The river run will be rocky. It will test runners balance, speed, and endurance to the heat. The month of April is hotter in the mountain in late mornings from 9 onwards. Beautiful sceneries in the early morning stage of the run. Runners may take a dip at the cool water of Sto. Nino before returning to the clubhouse.

Anito Forest Trail

The Anito mountain is one of the two peaks in Barangay San Andres with high elevation up to 600 meters above sea level at the highest peak. It’s still partly forested below the slope but the top part is grassland. It’s an introduction to forest trail with uphill climb and downhill run. It has great view of the mountains. This is about 10k maximum distance from the Clubhouse and back. This is part of the trail routes covered by runners in the season 1 of NTDR year 2012 and shall be partly covered by the 21k and the 50 Ultra categories in the upcoming Season 3 of NTDR.

Bangkaan Peak Trail

This is a difficult uphill trail from the foot of the mountain in San Andres, it rises 400 meters from below and more than 600 meters above sea level. It has the best view of the sea of clouds that appear in the barrio at certain month, day, and time of the year. Runners will get the feel of uphill climb and downhill in the famous Bangkaan Peak with possible bonus of the above the clouds experience which Bangkaan Peak has become famous among trail runners. While the uphill climb to is gradual, the last kilometer has inclination of about 45 degrees angle to 70 degrees at time so it gets more difficult going for the Peak. This will develop strong legs and lungs for runners. First timers doing the climb will have difficulties but as the runners repeat the routes successively the runner become stronger and competitive runner. The runner becomes accustomed to the thin air making him/her run faster going up.The Downhill run is a challenge it will test the runners balance and flexibility. If a runner wants to be competitive this Trail Route is a must training groundl.

May Sawa Trail

This has one of the most beautiful trail with awesome scenery of the Sierra Madre. The difficulty is higher with combination of more uphill, downhill, river crossings. This trail is one of the most scenic upon reaching the other side of the mountain one can choose weather to go for the Mamuyao Trail or the Laiban Trail in the left or right.

San Andres-Cayabu-Tinucan Trail

Rolling and flat rocky off-road but easier route with some river crossings. The river crossing is quite daunting as it tends to be at higher at knee to waist deep at times depending on the weather. In extreme weather, the river crossing may have to be avoided as it may pose danger to runners.

Cuyambay-Calinawan-Macantog Trail

Combined trail of off road, forested, rolling and rocky with some stream, brooks, crossings. This is a longer trail than others and just at the back of Daranak falls. This is an all-weather trail suited even for rainy days. Builds speed and endurance for trail runners. There are many variations in this trail.

May Sawa to Laiban Trail

This trail route should only be tried once the runner is already used in short distances in trail. This is difficult and daunting with many variations but the most scenic of all the trail routes.

Other Trail under development - Bakbak Trail, Kay Ibon Trail, etc.
