DUATRAIL COMPETITION RULES & REGULATIONS

Participants in the Upcoming Race Please Read Carefully Before Clicking on the Registration Button.

 

This Rules and Regulations shall apply to the Duatrail Championship Series - Sierra Madre Duathlon Challenge race events ("Race") organized and managed by Pimco Sporting Events or "Pimco" for short. Runners either registering online at Pimco’s Official Web Site or registering at Pimco’s Partner Registration outlets shall be covered by this Rules and Regulations as well as other rules specific to a particular trail running race event. It’s understood that runners participating in the race event are fully aware and have read, understood, and agreed to the contents of this Rules and Regulations.

 

A. RUN AT YOUR OWN RISK

 

DuaTrail or trail duathlon is full of fun, exciting, and adventure filled sport but has its danger too like in any other popular sports. You may suffer possible bruises, injury, or even loss of life from accidents or natural causes that may happen to you while participating in the event. You participate and PARTICIPATE AND COMPETE AT YOUR OWN RISK.

 

1/ The Race Organizer, the Sponsors, Municipality of Tanay, and all volunteer group organizations and individuals assisting this event, shall not be held responsible or be held liable for any injury, disability or death of registered participants or “bandit” unregistered participants before, during, and after the race.

 

2/ As participants in any or all of the Pimco Sporting Events trail running race events, you know your body and the state of your own health. By signing up as participant and competitor in the race you are responsible for your own safety and your own health condition. By running in the race event as registered participant runner or “bandit” unregistered runner you run at your own risk.

 

3/ You are responsible in getting clearance from your own doctor and your own medical expenses, needs, and necessities before and after the race.

 

4/ You are responsible in securing your own life and disability insurance.

 

5/ By signing the waiver upon registration or in case of online registration by signing up, you bind yourself to the waiver and this Rules and Regulations. And even if you failed to sign the waiver but continue to participate, take part, run in the race event you bind yourself to the waiver and this Rules and Regulations.

 

B. REGISTRATION and PARTICIPATION

 

Official Online Registration is done only through the Pimco Trail Running web site at www.pimcosportingevents.net  or at Facebook Page Pimco Sporting Events at www.facebook.com/PimcoSportsEvents Web sites or pages claiming to accept registration for us are not valid unless it is officially announced online or any media outlet by Pimco Sporting Events.

 

1/ Official Registration Partners will be officially announced and posted in both our official Facebook Page and official web site.

 

2/ For online registrants, you must complete the online form and click on submit or register. You will be officially notified of our acceptance of your online registration together with instruction to pay as given in the Statement of Account (SOA). You will only pay following the SOA. Payment is done through bank only and that you must keep your original deposit slip and you must send us copy to validate your deposit. Without the deposit slip, your registration maybe invalidated.

 

3/ For registration done at our official Registration Partners, you must complete the official Registration Form available only at Official Registration Outlets and pay Race Event Fees.  Race kits are available at the Registration Partners which include the most important  material in the race your Race Bib number.

 

4/ Race Kits of Online Registrants maybe redeemed using the original deposit slip or clear copy at our designated pick-up or redemption outlet, in our office at a given schedule, at the shuttle bus on race day, and at the race venue. Online Registered runners may choose to get their race kit at site on race day or at the bus if they are registered for shuttle bus service.

 

5/ Sponsors will receive their complimentary Registration Form which they can give to any runner of their choice. Runners with the Complimentary Registration Form must completely fill up the form and submit the same for the Free Race Kit at Pimco Office before the Race Event or at the venue on race day at least 1 hour before the gun start.

 

6/ All Registered Participant Runners without exception should submit back to the organizer original registration form fully signed by you as the runner. Registration Form signed by representative of the Team or any person other than the runner participating in the event shall be valid and considered signed by the runner himself. Runners even with Bib number will not be allowed to take part unless he/she submit the signed waiver on top of his name.

 

7/ For Online Registrants, there is a pre-filled up Registration Form on race day to be signed please ensure that you sign the Registration Form with the waiver and submit the same to organizer before the start of race.

 

8/ For whatever reason that the Participant Runner failed to return or signed the waiver and original Registration Form, the waiver and this Rules and Regulations remain valid and binding between the Participant Runner and the Race Organizer if and when the Participant Runner proceeds to participate in the Race Event and run.

 

9/ Unregistered runners who are able to run and participate without the expressed knowledge of the organizer by running without registering; using his old Bib; and or running using the bib and number registered under a different name is a “bandit” runner; however, Bandits are bound under this rules and regulations.

 

10/ Bandits are unregistered runners and are not allowed to run in the race. Any bandit caught running will be stopped and escorted out of the race and name taken. Bandits caught will be banned in all upcoming and future races of Pimco and PTRA.

 

C. THE RACE EVENT

 

The Race Event to which this rules and regulations apply is any of the race events organized, produced, and managed by Pimco Sporting Events. The Race Event referred to here and to which this rules and regulations particularly applies is DuaTrail Championship Series - Sierra Madre Duathlon Challenge, a trail duathlon trail run/mountain bike race which is scheduled to be held on November 23, 2014 unless extended or cut short by organizer.

 

1/ Schedule of the Race Event shall be fixed by the organizer. The organizer for whatever reason it may have reserves the right to postpone and change the schedule of the Race Event; the official venue or location of the event; and the trail routes.

 

2/ Participant Runners may register and enter only in one race category and will not be allowed to transfer to any of the other race categories on the race day. In case of transfer of category from higher to lower distance, the Registered Participants forfeit the Race Event fee paid for the higher distance race category.

 

3/ Race Event fee is non-refundable, under no circumstances shall the event fee, bus fee, and other fees related to the race event be refunded except if the race is cancelled for the entire year. Postponement of the race is not a cancellation. In case of postponement, a new schedule will be announced via Facebook Page, email, and official web site as well as in official blogs and print media if available. Participants are advised to LIKE the Facebook Page of Pimco Sporting Events and follow the posts regularly to be always updated.

 

4/ Race Event has necessary permit with local government units in Tanay or in case where it will be transferred to another territory it will be held with necessary permits.

 

5/ Race event shall be held rain or shine but it may be subject to abrupt cancellation/postponement prior to the event and/or during the race event under circumstances including but not limited to extreme weather disturbances or sudden change of temperature such as extreme heat and/or if there is imminent danger to all parties participating in the Event when government authorities issued high alert level. In such cases where the safety of runners and all individuals involved in the holding of the race event may be compromised, the Race Organizer reserves the right to stop the race or modify the distances. In case of race stoppage or outright modification, all runners will be credited on the distance of race finished.

 

6/ The Race Event is a Trail Running Race Event and its open to all foreigners in all race distance category.

 

7/ Race Event will have categories each with established Distances measured in kilometers. In view of mountain terrain and road conditions factor, the race routes may at times exceed the distance categories by several kilometers especially in routes where there are transitions along the highway and concrete roads given but it will still be recorded under the official distance categories of the race event.

 

8/ Each Race Category will have Cut-off Time assigned. Participant Runner must complete and finish entire distance of the race category that he/she is officially registered, taking part, and running. A Participant Runner missing the cut-off time assigned to the race category where he/she participates and takes part shall be disqualified – DFNd.

 

9/ The Race Event is a property of Pimco Sporting Events Co. as Organizer Photographers are allowed to take pictures of the event provided the photos taken will be shared with the Organizer. The race organizer reserves the right to use any photographs, motion pictures, video recordings, or other media records for any legitimate purposes including commercial advertising without giving monetary consideration to any participant.

 

D. CONDUCT OF THE RACE

 

The DuaTrail has two parts of the race one is trail running and one is cycling or mountain bike. Here is the conduct of the race

 

CYCLING PART

 

1/ Race Briefing

Race briefing shall take place on Saturday, November 22, 2014 at the venue site San Andres, Tanay, Rizal from 4:00 pm up to 4:430 pm. Attendance is compulsory for all participants and beneficial because if there are any changes or amendment to the race rules and details it will be announced in this briefing. It will also give participants the last minute preparations needed to compete and prepare well in the next day race.

Race Briefing shall be for all concerned the elite group and age group.

 

2/ Bike and Helmet Check-in

The Bike and Helmet check-in and other allowed gears for the cyclist or bikers shall take place after the race briefing. At 4:30 pm to 6:30 pm. Extension is subject to the discretion of the officials on the ground.

 

3/ Racing Gear/Starting Numbers

For missing or altered number a time penalty will be given to the offender while an immediate  disqualification from the race maybe given for transferring a number without the permission given by the race director.

 

The participants are responsible for their own racing gear. Racing with an unclothed upper body is forbidden on the race either on the run as well as on the bike courses. The changing of clothing is allowed only in the official transition area. This is particularly true for the solo/individual participants. The start number has to be clearly visible on the front of the body during the running course and on the back of the body during the bike course. The number must neither be folded nor concealed in clothing. The helmet numbered sticker must be fitted in front. The Bike start number has to be attached in front of the bike.  If there is violation, a time penalty will be given. Please refer to the Yellow and Red Cards.

 

Attention!

Brake levers must be turned backwards, but bar end shifters for clip-ons can be turned forwards.

 

4/ Transition Area

The transition area may only be entered by race participants and designated officials (not all officials are allowed only those with an admission card). Trainers, coaches, and spectators have no admittance to this area. The area will be fenced and covered secured.

 

Within the transition zone, bikes are to be pushed only and are parked in the designated racks. Do not lay bikes on the ground. Equipment must be placed in the properly designated and individually assigned bike rack.  Bikes must also be returned on its designated rack. Please avoid interfering with another participant while in the transition area or in the race either by talking or physical interference that may effectively impede his or her progress in the race. Your bike and equipment must be properly racked that it will not interfere with another participant’s movement.

 

Glass containers or similar breakable equipment that may cause injury is not permitted in the Transition Area.

Riding and disembarking from the bike is allowed only in designated zone with imaginary line as marked from both sides by a clearly visible sign.

Participants caught violating any provision in the transition area will be given time penalty.

 

5/ Race Course or the Route

For safety reasons and equal treatment, the running courses are exclusive areas for participants except those in the off-road public transport road. Any form of mobile escort is strictly forbidden. There will be designated zone for parking and maneuvering of cars away from the routes.

 

Participants must know the race course and must follow the official route. Going out of the official route for emergency reason may be allowed but participant must return to the race re-entering at the point where he/she departed temporarily from the race. Violation in this prescribed condition will result in outright disqualification.

 

Where there is a loop or U-turn, both runner and biker must get the required colored band as a proof of passing in the right course and not skipping.  Participants must observe and obeyed All applicable traffic laws at all times.

 

When running in the areas where there are vehicles passing-by like barangay roads, municipal roads and highways, runners must always run on the left side facing the incoming vehicles as a precaution that an incoming vehicle is always at sight. For safety runner must always give way to the vehicle and when crossing it is advised to always look left and right before crossing. Biker must run on the right side of the road and overtakes fellow biker on the left with at least 3 meters distance. Biker who is ahead of another must always run at the side of the road and not block any biker attempting to overtake. Bikers should not at any time run in groups occupying half of the road. Where there is single trail, overtaking is prohibited. Overtaking in a steep downhill trail parts of the mountain is absolutely prohibited.

 

In races with more than one loop, it is the racer's duty to keep track of the number of their laps.

Penalty: Race official’s discretion: time penalty or disqualification. Incomplete number of laps will result in disqualification.

 

6/ Cycling/Drafting

Cycling is an individual time trial without any personnel assistance. Drafting (Slipstream cycling behind or next to another cyclist) is forbidden in some zones. The minimal distance between the two bikes in such zones must be 7m (front wheel to front wheel), the lateral distance at least 3m, and the time to pass another participant must not exceed 30sec. Drafting rules apply for elite and age group.

 

Participants who violate these regulations can be disqualified immediately by a race steward, or can be charged with a yellow card (penalty) or the red card.

 

7/ Yellow card

Whistle or horn from race steward/referee. Show of yellow card. Call of number. Information of  penalty to the athlete.

 

First yellow card: 5 minutes penalty
Second yellow card: 10 minutes penalty
Third yellow card: disqualification

The sentence (penalty time) has to be served in the penalty box at designated km along the routes. Participants have to wait out and serve the penalty before proceeding in the race.

 

8/ Red card

Disqualification

 

A hard shell helmet has to be worn. It is mandatory to wear the helmet (apron must be closed) from the moment you get the bicycle until you depose your bike again. There is oncoming traffic on the bike course. The traffic rules have to be obeyed. E.g. a crossed safety line leads to a disqualifction.

Dangerous downhill sections will be marked with a yellow flag. That means the speed has to be adapted immediately.

 

9/ “Bike Doctor”

An official repair station will operate at the entry to the transition area on the day before the race and on the race day. In addition, two fix repair stations will operate during the race.

 

10/ Start and Finish

Participants in the Solo/Individual may start in one batch or may start in waves with the elite group and age group separated in starting time. This is to avoid crowding the course in case of many participants joining the race.

 

Participants in the Team Relay will start in different batch. Relay members must be aware of the Tag Zone, the area designated for the incoming runner/biker to tag the next runner in the team relay.

 

TRAIL RUNNING PART

 

Participants may run or walk. They are requested to observe proper running etiquette.

 

1/ Proper running etiquette is giving your fellow runners respect and courtesy. Sportsmanship must be observed in all stages of the race and participating runners should strictly follow and observe the following:

 

     a) Don’t heckle or disturb other runners whether it’s a joke. A friendly small chat of giving fellow runners motivation to carry on is welcome but

         heckling and joking around which may distract the focus of fellow runners will be a cause of disqualification from the race.

 

     b) Cutting the way of runners dangerously is prohibited and will result in outright disqualification.

 

     c) Runners must give way or outrun the runners behind him/her especially in single trails. Blocking the runner purposely may result in injury or

         accidents and may be ground for disqualification if proven to be intentionally done.

 

     d) Runners who may pass by a fellow runner in need of help should extend help. They may call the attention of marshal at the aid station.

 

2/ Participant must wear the assigned bib number in front of his/her person and must be at all times visible  to organizers, staff, marshals, timers, media, medics, and all officers of the event including security personnel assigned by LGU, military, and police to secure the race route. Swapping of race bib, before, during, and after the race is strictly prohibited and will result to disqualification. Runners without bib number will be considered a “bandit”. Runners who have no bib number visible will not be given finishing time.*

 

3/ Participant runners who take off before the race event starts may be disqualified.

 

4/ Race participants caught deviating from the race route or taking short cuts or exchanging their race bibs with another runner will be automatically disqualified from the race and may be banned for any future races of the organizers.

 

5/ Cheating will result in the disqualification of Participant Runner in the Race Event and shall be banned from participating in all races of Pimco and shall lose membership in PTRA or Trail Runners Club. Trail Running like any sports is a gentleman/woman sport and therefore any Participant Runner caught cheating in the race event like doing shortcut and not completing the distance and then proceed to the finish line, he/she shall be disqualified and banned in any of the races of Pimco and membership in PTRA. Cheating to get ahead of the other is taboo in the sports like Trail Running.

 

6/ Participant Runner should be at the starting gate before the gun start. The Starting Gate shall close at 2 minutes before countdown. Runners who are not in the starting gate at 2 minutes before countdown shall wait to be called by the Race Director before they can proceed to join the race. Runners who are late when all the Race Categories have already taken off shall have to wait for clearance from the Race Master to join the race. The Race Director may not allowed late participant to proceed.

 

7/ Participant Runners who are 1 hour late after all the race categories have taken off shall no longer be allowed to join the race and shall forfeit his/her registration.  They may however claim their gift or loot bags. Runners who failed to run may claim their loot bags.

 

8/ In the event that runners dropped from the race, runners are responsible to notify race volunteers and turn in the race bib tag at the nearest checkpoint or the finish line. Runners who choose to drop from the race for whatever reason should return to Race Venue and turn in their bib tag but should not cross the finish line.  Runners who fail to comply with this rule will assume financial responsibility for any search and rescue expenses.

 

9/ No pacing of trail runners either by bicycle riding pacer or runner without bib. Illegal pacing will result in the disqualification of runner being paced.

 

11/ Runners participating in category 6km Distance for the team relay are required to carry at least 1x20oz bottle or the equivalent hydration pack while those in the 12km distance for the team relay and the solo category 2 x 20z bottles or its equivalent.

 

12/ Strictly no littering on the race routes. You may stay at aid stations to eat and leave your garbage at the station’s garbage bag. Offending runner may be disqualified.

 

13/ If you observe any runner drop litter on the course, you agree to chase them down and get their bib number to report to officials at the next aid station.​

 

14/ Aid station personnel have authority to remove you from the race due to rules infringement, runner safety or for missing a cut-off time.

 

15/ Runners who are rude or offensive toward our race volunteers and race officials and staff will have their bib numbers recorded and maybe disqualified. Said runner will be barred from joining any future races Pimco Sporting Events.

 

16/ No wearing of old race bibs. Runners who wear a bib number that is "out of sequence" will be disqualified.

 

17/ Runners who do not have a bib tag attached to their race bib at the finish line will not be "official" finishers.

 

18/ After crossing the finish line, runners must present himself/herself to the finish line marshals for the bib tag. In case Marshal failed to get the bib tag of the runner, same runner must call the attention of the finish line marshal and surrender the bib tag.

 

19/ All rules are non-negotiable and there are no exceptions to the rules except those exempted. The race officials and aid station volunteers reserve the right to enforce rules and/or to create new rules, as necessary, up to and including on race day.

 

E. PRIZES AND AWARDS

 

1/ All winners must be physically present to receive their awards and prizes during the awarding ceremony. The organizer shall have the right to forfeit the prizes of winners who are not physically present during the awarding ceremony.

 

2/ Under Finishers are Participant Runners who failed to finish under the Cut-off time and will declared as DNF or Did Not Finish the race.

 

3/ Under Finishers shall not be eligible for Finishers Medal but shall receive Certificate of Finish. The Certificate of Finish will be emailed to the Runner within a week after the race.

 

4/ For Security and for purposes of verification of results in case of protests that may be lodged by any participating runners who may have reason to file protest, Cash Prizes shall not be awarded on site. Winners shall receive Cash Vouchers instead which can be redeemed only at Pimco Sporting Events office or upon request by the winners cash prize shall be deposited on bank of the winner or sent via money sender after 5 working days. The 5 working days allows any protest from other runners to be heard by the organizers.  The 5 working days maybe exceeded in case of complicated issues of the concluded race event.

 

5/ If no protest is received by Organizer within the 5 working days period, winners will receive their Cash Prizes, sent via money transfer, deposited in the bank per instruction of the runner, or redeemed personally by the winning runner in the office of Pimco.

 

6/ Winners must make the formal request how the money will be sent via bank to bank deposit or via money transfer. If via money transfer, winners shall be charged the equivalent of the service fee by Money Remittance companies – Western Union, Cebuana Lhuiller, and LBC. Cash Request forms for winners will be available at the Organizers Administrative booth at the Race Venue.

 

7/ Non cash prizes and awards such as gifts, medals, trophies, shirts and other items shall be awarded on site immediately after the cut-off time. Awarding of winners shall immediately follow after the cut-off time for all runners.

 

8/ All finishers shall immediately receive their Finishers Package after crossing the finish line and after verification of Race Bib number, and surrender of bib-tag.

 

9/ All Finishers may claim their Finishers Package upon presentation of race bib at the Finishers Claim Booth.

 

10/ Non-Finishers or those that will not make the cut-off time shall not be eligible for the Finishers Medal and Finishers Shirt but will receive the Loot Bag and continue to be eligible for other prizes such as any gifts they will win along the road. Runners who will not be able to finish shall receive Certificate of Participation that will be mailed to them.

 

F. MISCELLANEOUS

 

1/ Should a runner makes a protest against any of the winners said runner must immediately notify the Race Officials at the Finish Line and inform them of the nature of the protest and bib number of the runner being protested to within fifteen (15) minutes after crossing the finish line. The protesting runner shall then submit a written protest to the Race Organizer within 3 days after the race event and pay a Protest Fee of P750.00.

 

2/ Organizer shall withhold any Cash Prize of the Winner who is subject of protest and shall decide on the protest within 3 days after receiving the formal protest.

 

3/ Organizer shall review the result of the contested race and may call the winners to answer the protest if there is proof submitted by the protesting party. If not the Organizer shall make decision and relay the decision to the parties involved.

 

4/ The Organizers decision is final in any protest and should be respected by all parties.

 

5/ Race Organizers shall always assume regularity of conduct of runners before, during, and after the race so that winners are assumed and declared winners unless there is overwhelming and sufficient proof presented by a protesting party of any violation of the winners in this Rules and Regulations.

 

6/ Participant runners may leave personal things at the Baggage Booth. You are responsible in keeping your personal things. The organizers shall be not be responsible for any lost item or things left and unclaimed in the baggage booth, in any place in the official venue, in official trail routes or in any other places.

 

7/ This Rules and Regulations are non-negotiable and there are no exceptions. The Race Organizers, officials, managers, and station volunteers reserve the right to enforce rules and/or create new rules as necessary, up to and including on race day.
